이 노래는 "King of Calypso" Harry Belafonte가 1956년에 발표한 『Calypso』 앨범에 수록되어 있는 "Day-O (Banana Boat Song)"이다.
자마이카의 민요를 바탕으로 만든 이 노래는, 그 제목처럼 자마이카에서 바나나 운반을 하던 이들이 부르던 노동요 정도라 생각하면 되겠다. 그래서 굳이 번역할 것도 없어서 그냥 영어가사만 적어 놓았다.
