[가사 검열] Maxwell's Silver Hammer

<Let It Be> 앨범보다 먼저 발매되었지만, 녹음시기로는 가장 나중의 Beatles 정규앨범인 <Abbey Road>.  Beatles의 수 많은 걸작 앨범 중에서도 손 꼽히는 수작이다.


이 앨범의 수록곡 중 우리에게 잘 알려진 건 "Here Comes The Sun", "Something", "Come Together" 이지만, 나머지 수록곡 전부가 높은 완성도를 가진 명곡들이라고 할 수 있다.

그 중 아주 독특한 노래가 하나 있는데 그 곡이 오늘 가사 검열할 "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"이다.  이 노래의 내용은 연쇄살인범에 대한 이야기인데, 이런 내용의 노래를 수록한 게 어떤 의도가 있어서 그런 건지 아니면 그냥 실어 놓은 건지에 대해서는 제대로 밝혀진 게 없다.

암튼 흥겨운 멜로디와 연주와 함께 경쾌한 목소리로 노래하는 연쇄살인범의 이야기를 감상해보자.
